Brassica oleracea
This early-maturing red cabbage produces beautiful deep purple-red, 2 to 4 pound heads with great flavor and storage quality. The plants are compact and resistant to cabbage yellows and splitting, which makes this variety a great choice for home gardens with limited space, and growers in warm and humid climates.
Red Acre cabbage can be seeded indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost and transplanted out after the last frost date for a spring crop, or direct seeded in the garden in midsummer for a fall crop. It prefers full sun, but can tolerate a little shade, especially in hot weather. Heads are ready to harvest in about 76 days. 1.75 gram packet contains approximately 515 seeds.
